This dashboard provides school-year data related to the participation rates of students – at the statewide level and by high school – in the Early College program at public (HIDOE and charter) schools. Data is disaggregated by student characteristics (e.g., grade level, gender, economic disadvantage status, and race/ethnicity).
This data on this dashboard can be used to evaluate who is currently being served by Early College programming and for reflection/discussion between high school & UH campus partners related to ways that Early College programming can be adapted to serve more students who can benefit most from program participation.

Early College participation data (in blue on the right side of the page) can be compared to data at the school/state as a whole to determine which groups may currently be underserved or who could be better served by Early College programming. High school completer data (which is also disaggregated by student characteristic) for students who participate in Early College and those who do not is provided in the bottom half of the report for context. Increasing Early College participation numbers of student groups who have the largest increase in college enrollment after participating in Early College may increase the college enrollment rate of the school/state as a whole.
The following definitions are being provided for additional clarification:
- Early College is a dual credit program that allows high school students to participate in “sheltered” college classes with their high school peers.
- Dual Credit refers to any programs that allow high school students to enroll in college classes and earn credit towards both their high school graduation and college degree upon successful course completion. Dual Credit programs include – but are not limited to – Early College.
